IINE Gamebrick Mini

Got asked after the Gashapon post whether that thing actually works as a controller. It doesn't. Real Nintendo parts, zero function.

Turns out there's an actual solution for this. The IINE Gamebrick Mini. Fully functional Bluetooth controller, Famicom style.

/e/OS

Old OnePlus Nord. New job: /e/OS test bench.

Pixel spoiled me. This will hurt a bit.

/e/OS just hit version 4.0. Looks promising. Skipping the Murena Workspace fluff though, /e/OS itself is the point.

DGS May

Dusty Game Society May game: King of Dragon Pass. PC CD-ROM from 1999. Clan management, diplomacy, magic, and random events that punish every decision. Perfect.

King of Dragon Pass CD-ROM and Quick Reference sheet spread out on a wooden surface. The iridescent disc shows the game logo and copyright 1999 A Sharp LLC. Behind it, the game manual lies open to a hand-drawn map. A small green and purple wizard figurine stands in the background next to a pixelated game board.

Vinyl

Moving away from streaming only means physical media. Being a millennial, of course it's vinyl.

Needed a new turntable. With remote. Obviously.

Been reading about eXoDOS for a while. Finally took the time to set it up. Pretty painless. Now lives on the NAS. Works fine under Linux too.

Xteink X4

Xteink X4 ebook reader. Tiny thing. Finally got around to loading epubs. CFW CrossPoint was dead easy to install and blows the stock OS out of the water.

Small enough to stick to the back of a phone with MagSafe. Declaration of war on doomscrolling.

Music Tagging

Since switching to Qobuz, offline music organization has become a thing again. Brutal time sink. Tags have to be perfect, of course.

8BitDo N64

Swapped the BlueRetro N64 receiver for an 8BitDo. Should work better with my 8BitDo N64 mod kit. Curious if the built-in memory pak is more reliable. Firmware update required first.

DGS April

Dusty Game Society April games: Animal Forest for N64 and as an April Fools joke Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for NES.

Animal Forest was a disaster. Somehow ended up preferring Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Nextcloud CalDAV

Nextcloud update after a few months. CalDAV works great. Shared calendars, shared task lists, recurring events. Other providers seemed to struggle with this.

On Android synced via DAVx5 to Etar and Tasks.org.

OneDrive to Nextcloud

Switched from OneDrive to Nextcloud a few months ago.

Still don't fully trust the automatic photo upload. Probably unfounded. Running regular comparisons before pulling the plug on OneDrive for good.

New Whip

Got a new car. Felt like unboxing a smartphone. Register account, install apps, configure settings. Easy. Done in a few hours.

Took me a while to figure out how to start it.

Spent the evening tinkering with this site. Sidebar, tag cloud, tag filter, security bits. Enjoyed every minute of it.

This is what the web should feel like.

Switched to CachyOS on my laptop. Tried Pop!_OS first, too buggy. Wanted a non-Ubuntu base.

Moving to Qobuz

Trying to get rid of Spotify for ethical reasons. Moving to Qobuz. Recommended by a friend who knows his music. Qobuz even offers a transfer service.

For podcasts, I moved to AntennaPod. Had all the podcasts I'm listening to.
